This perfect blend of old-school mystery & modern crime writing creates an excellent story that draws the reader in very easily.
We know the thoughts behind the mystery from the start but, as we'd hope, nothing is obvious at all.
Ageing millionaire, Bhaskar Fernandez lives in the impressive (& possibly haunted) Greybrooke Manor high up in the misty mountainous Nilgiri region of southern India.
Readers are transported straight into the location & the colonial mansion with invited family as guests. With some near-miss situations behind him, is Bhaskar justified in his suspicions? We'll see!
There's a terrible landslide that prevents most travel in & out of the area - creating quite an isolated environment - a perfect element for added suspense. The English man who originally had the manor built met a mysterious death & there are other questionable historic connections. With a group of family members, there's no telling which way things could go - they think they know each other.
Can a check of who is left or right-handed be a telling part of the investigation? It might be surprising what a small detail can tell us or maybe it can also lead us in the wrong direction.
Can someone really be SO suspicious about their own family? Can they really be greedy enough to be planning the demise of a beloved grandfather?
This story will keep you guessing.
