The word *PANDEMONIUM* features in this book & also sums it up perfectly!
When this arrived I immediately sent a text to a friend, senior medic & lovely co-ordinator of our reading MiniClub (for junior chemo patients) book selections.
A few children have shied away from some books. *Too many pages* *Too many words* *No pictures* These seem to be the most common issues. ALL solved by THIS book!
It's also one that will make you smile & laugh.
James Lancettās illustrations are the perfect match for a crazy-fun story & his style fits the rat-induced chaos very well.
They'll appeal to a wide range of children & catch the interest of reluctant readers.
Everyone loves a theme day, don't they? Today it's *Olden Days School* for Lenny Lemmon & his friends.
It should be fun for everyone. Even serious teachers are joining in but Lenny's idea of Olden Days might not be what the school expected. They're in for a huge surprise!
Some people dress up, wear a special type of hat or maybe make a flag to take to school.
A fake beard, face paint or a long pouffy dress might work for this fun day but Lenny doesn't do anything just average or boring. He takes something in a little cage to school! š
How will the day go? Sometimes it's great to have a break in tradition or routine but a weird blackboard in the classroom, theme day AND a new girl in class, that's a LOT for one day.
There's fun & chaos!
This rat is not a fluffy, calm 'pet' - no, No, NO! It's very keen to explore & get up to all kinds of mischief after escaping from Lenny's cardboard box š
What would you do?
Panic? š
What kind of plan would you have?
Will this pesky rat be caught?
This would be an exciting story to read in a small group, library club or a class & could spark some fun discussion, writing & art activities.
I'd definitely recommend this to everyone ā ššš
It's fascinating to see such a variety of books out there & I hope more publishers will explore different styles in the future.
Anything that makes books more engaging, accessible & attractive to young readers will always be a positive step.
Reading is such a pivotal element to development in everything else.
