This one caught my interest as soon as I read a brief description & is more than a small step outside my usual reading style range.
As with many other books brought to us by Pushkin Press, this translated novel has some hard-hitting storylines & fascinating, contrasting characters.
*The Wolf Hunt* also deals with difficult subjects such as racial issues, bullying, animal cruelty & antisemitism. It's not a fluffy cloud collection of topics.
Some alarming elements make the story unique & also very unsettling. They'll keep you reading & wondering how this mother feels when her heart wants to dismiss some of the possibilities life is throwing her way.
Adam is a reclusive & shy boy but after a terrible attack on the local synagogue, he feels he needs to take some self-defence classes. The instructor just happens to be a former Israeli Special Forces officer.
Lilach's struggle as a mother only intensifies when tragedy strikes at a house party & she has to question everything whilst following her natural instincts to protect her own family.
The parallel tracks of jeopardy will keep everyone's attention, have others second-guessing their own thoughts & shock some.
As with any thriller, there might be clues along the way but will the details lead the reader along the right path or be a shocking bluff?
Dark moments definitely rear their ugly heads several times in the text & human-lead darkness never makes for easy reading but this book also has its own gripping style.
Thank you for having me on this tour #PushkinPress
