Review *Hello, Stranger*

by Rachel Marks

Published by Michael Joseph Books an imprint of the Penguin Random House group

Hello, Stranger

Some people shy away from love stories or anything that even vaguely mentions love or relationships but this is not like anything you've read before. If there IS such a thing as a typical love story, this ISN'T it!

There's a definite 'opposites attract' thread, tender times & emotional moments, plus so much more. Jamie likes things just so, tidy, arranged. Lucy doesn't need a figurative or literal spirit level for anything.

In between the time-shift element - *Before* & *The Day of the Break-Up* (plus a brief *After*) - Lucy & Jamie have their own chapters. It works well in this case.

We arrive in their world easily & instantly feel part of their lives. How do words do that to us? It definitely doesn't happen in every book I've read.

It's often said that everyone has secrets from their past. This is also a factor in Rachel Marks' unusual story.

WHY on EARTH would a couple that seemed so right for each other actually plan to split up? Are there other love interests in the mix? Not this time.

From the day they met, things just felt right. We get to know Jamie & Lucy as soon as we start reading.

The writing style invites us in & keeps us reading, keen to know what's next.

Putting her engagement ring on the bedside table was a jarring message Lucy left for Jamie. The plan became a harsh reality.

He hated that moment.

Jamie has a sense of humour but is also sincere & sensitive as a person. We feel the anguish & want to know the outcome but there's no simple answers to be found. Could things turn around?

This is definitely not a predictable story journey.

*You might be shocked.

*Your heart might break.

*You'll definitely be hooked.
