All the elements on this cover just scream FUN! That's just one of the main ingredients in this super-exciting début from Hannah Moffat.

Everyone has birthday wishes - whether they're kept quiet or spoken about endlessly. They sometimes come true but sometimes they don't. Harvey's birthday wish has been the same for several years.

*Football Boots*

As this story starts, it's Harvey's 10th birthday. He has his usual wish. But he gets *Absolutely NO football boots*

Imagine his surprise when his presents from mum include VERY LONG stilts & ENORMOUS dungarees. The stilts even have HUGE feet attached. What was his mum thinking?

It's time for a BIG change, according to mum.

There is a surprise in store for Harvey but it isn't the kind he is expecting. At ALL!

One of the most challenging times for a child is changing schools - but why has mum chosen one called Madame Bogbrush's School for Gifted Giants??

Harvey is *Absolutely Not* a giant.

There's a school inspection coming up & things have to be just right or Madame Bogbrush will have to close the school FOREVER!

The school pet is a HUGE SLUG (of course!) called Kevin! He leaves his slime trail wherever he goes. The school inspector is another surprise: Ms. Sugar Plum is a Fairy with a tiara & she is an EXTRA Small! She has plum-coloured wings & a big clipboard.

There's nothing average about the school, its pupils, teachers or even its rules. It seems to be a VERY difficult challenge for ANY of the *gifted GIANTS* to actually follow any of the rules. Get ready to join Harvey on this crazy-fun adventure & be prepared for some BIG surprises on the way!

The illustrations & unusual details add to this adventure & the use of varying font size & style sprinkles an extra element of interest into the whole reading experience.

SMALL! is a unique & very creative story that would be great fun for everyone as a read-aloud book in a school group, club or at home.
